STEVEN PIET: director / co-writer

Steven Piet was born in Chicago and raised on the south side of the city. He attended the Savannah College of Art and Design with a major in Film. Following graduation, he returned to the Chicago production industry, where he has directed a variety of projects including broadcast commercials, music videos and short films. Uncle John is his directing and screenwriting feature film debut. 


ERIK CRARY: producer / co-writer 

Erik Crary was born and raised in Lodi, Wisconsin. He majored in Film and Journalism at the University of Wisconsin, and moved to Los Angeles following graduation. He soon began working for renowned director David Lynch, initially as his assistant, then eventually as an Associate Producer on his latest film, INLAND EMPIRE. He and his wife relocated to Chicago in May of 2008, where he has worked in the production industry since. Uncle John is his first credit as a producer and screenwriter. 


GARY JESDANUN: executive producer 

Gary Jesdanun grew up in Edison, New Jersey. Following graduation from Brown University with a dual major in Computer Science and Visual Arts, he relocated to Los Angeles to begin an esteemed career in the video game industry, where he has been credited on more than 30 titles over the past 17 years, including “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater” and the “Guitar Hero” series. In addition to his continued work as a programmer/manager in the gaming industry, Uncle John is Gary’s first foray into film production. 




JOHN ASHTON: "Uncle John" 

Throughout his professional career, John Ashton has appeared in over 100 stage, film, and television productions. Among some of his most famous film roles are Detective Sgt. John Taggart opposite Eddie Murphy in the Beverly Hills Cop film series, and as Marvin Dorfler, rival bounty hunter to Robert DeNiro’s character in the classic film Midnight Run. He has also won numerous accolades for his work on stage, including “Best Actor” from the LA Drama Critics Awards for his performance in “True West”, which he shared with Ed Harris.

Hailing originally from New England, John graduated from the USC School of Theatre, where he won the prestigious Irene Ryan Scholarship his senior year. He has been a member of both the Company of Angels and The Met Theater, and has performed on stages all around the world. John currently resides in Fort Collins, CO.



Alex Moffat grew up in Chicago, where he began his entertainment career on stage as a member of the prolific Second City family. Aside from performing with improv groups “Wonderbat” and “The Album”, Alex has also hosted a variety of solo projects, including “Good Little Winnetka Boy” at The Annoyance Theatre, and his web-based series “El Show with Alex Moffat”. Aside from his feature debut in Uncle John, he also recently shot a comedy pilot for NBC.



Minnesota native Jenna Lyng earned a BFA in Film Production from Emerson College in 2010, where her thesis film earned numerous grants and awards. Since graduating, Jenna transitioned to Los Angeles where she works as an actress, producer and stylist. Her true passion lies in narrative filmmaking, where she’s continued to develop her own scripts alongside her professional career both in front of and behind the camera. On screen, Jenna has appeared in several independent films and series for studios such as ABC Family and Fremantle.
